Thug Life box office collection 7 days: Thug Life, which hit the screens on June 5, is struggling to stay afloat at the Indian box office. The film opened to mediocre response and earned merely Rs 15.5 (nett) crore on the first day. It then witnessed a sharp drop. Thug Life has now ended its first week on a disappointing note.

Thug Life disappoints on day 7

Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life has turned out to be a massive disappointment at the domestic box office and failed to impress critics. According to Sacnilk, a trade website, the actioner earned Rs 1.25 crore on the seventh day. This took its week 1 tally to Rs 42.25 crore.

Here is the daily box office collection breakdown for Thug Life:

Day 1: Rs 15.5 crore

Day 2: Rs 7.15 crore

Day 3: Rs 7.75 crore

Day 4: Rs 6.5 crore

Day 5: Rs 2.3 crore

Day 6: Rs 1.8 crore

Day 7: Rs 1.25 crore

The film received underwhelming reviews with critics panning the execution and ‘dull’ screenplay. The negative word-of-mouth affected the movie’s performance, resulting in a crash on weekdays.

Thug Life fails to beat Vettayan

Interestingly, Thug Life has failed to match the performance of Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan. As per Sacnilk, The TJ Gnanavel-helmed action drama raked in Rs 118.95 crore in the first seven days. Here is the breakdown

Day 1: Rs 31.7 crore

Day 2: Rs 24

Day 3: Rs 26.7 crore

Day 4: Rs 22.3 crore

Day 5: Rs 5.6 crore

Day 6: Rs 4.3 crore

Day 7: Rs 4.3 crore

Vettaiyan earned Rs 171 crore in its complete run in India and did reasonably well at the box office despite not being a trademark ‘masala’ film.

Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan began their careers in 1975 and soon emerged as pillars of Tamil cinema. They have often been compared because they learnt the tricks of the trade from the legendary K Balachander. Moreover, they have also shared screen space in films such as Apoorva Raagangal and Avargal.
